Getting Smart Blogger
of the Decade
I have been an educator for nearly 30 years. After several years in the media industry, I became an educator to empower students to create, innovate and advocate. All of my early experiences as a high school media teacher influenced my educational pedagogy of project-based learning, student voice and choice, career-focused education, real world applications and community connectedness. I have been fortunate to see what students can do when they are challenged and supported to pursue relevant learning, while having a role in how that learning transpires. I have lived by the philosophy of
"if it's not illegal or immoral, why not give it a try?"
If we want to truly create opportunities for all students to be engaged, empowered and intellectually enlightened, then we need to trust them and continually question our own practices, systems and expectations.
